Terms & licence
Plain English, and short. These terms cover buying and using the practice books sold on calligraphycoach.com.
1. Who you are dealing with
The books are made and sold by Calligraphy Coach (“we”, “us”), trading as Calligraphy Coach. You can reach a real person at hello@calligraphycoach.com.
2. Payments — Polar.sh is our merchant of record
Every purchase on this site is processed by Polar Software Inc. (Polar.sh), acting as the merchant of record. That means Polar — not us — is the seller of record for the transaction: Polar takes the payment, calculates, charges and remits any sales tax, VAT or GST due where you live, issues your receipt and invoice, and delivers the file.
- Your card details are handled by Polar and its payment processor. They never reach this site, and we never see or store them.
- Your receipt and any tax invoice come from Polar and will show Polar as the merchant. That is normal and expected.
- Polar's own terms and privacy policy apply to the checkout itself, alongside these terms.
- Polar may issue a refund at its own discretion within 60 days of a purchase in order to prevent a chargeback.
3. What you are buying
A licence to download and use a PDF. Nothing physical is shipped and nothing is printed for you. Each book is sized for US Letter paper (8.5 × 11 inches) and prints on an ordinary home or office printer. Page counts are listed on every book's page and are accurate at the time of sale.
4. What the licence lets you do
- Print the book as many times as you like, in whole or in part, for yourself and the people who live with you.
- Write in it, cut it up, bind it, and give a printed copy to a friend as a gift.
- Post photographs of your own practice pages anywhere you like, including with your own watermark or handle on them.
5. What it does not let you do
- Resell, sublicense, rent or give away the PDF file itself, or any part of it.
- Upload it to a file-sharing site, a course platform, a shared drive or a group chat.
- Sell printed copies, or use the pages as paid class or workshop material.
- Re-use the page designs, layouts or engine output in a product of your own.
Church groups, Bible studies, schools and care homes: email us and we will give you a group licence, usually free. We would much rather say yes than find out later.
6. Delivery and access
Delivery is immediate. After checkout Polar emails you a receipt with an Access purchase button that opens your customer portal; you sign in with the email address you bought with (Polar sends a one-time code — there is no password) and download the file. You can return to that portal and re-download at any time. We do not put an expiry on downloads, but the portal is Polar's service, not ours.
7. Text, fonts and copyright
Scripture is quoted from the King James Version, which is in the public domain. Marriage vows are from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer; poetry and other quoted text is public domain. The typefaces used in the books and on this site are licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The books themselves — their layout, wording, structure and page design — are our copyright.
8. Changes and availability
We revise books: fixing a line break, improving a page, correcting a mistake. If you already own a book, the improved version appears in your customer portal at no cost. We may retire a title from sale; that does not affect your access to a copy you already bought. Prices can change, but never retroactively.
9. Liability
These are practice books. We warrant that the file will be what the page said it was and will open and print. Beyond refunding what you paid — see refunds — we cannot accept liability for anything else, including ink, paper, printer trouble or disappointment with your own handwriting on day one. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law where you live.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. If you are a consumer, you keep the protections of the law of the country you live in.
